How to set up Zebra printers

The Zebra printer must be configured and set up before it can be used with the Roker Patrol app. 

Follow the instructions below to set up your printer and device.

1. Download Zebra Printer Setup Utility

On your mobile device, open Google Play Store and search for Zebra Printer Setup Utility, then download and install to your device

2. Connect the printer to your phone

a. Open the Printer Setup app on your phone and turn on your Zebra printer.














b. Click Discover printers 


c. When the printer has been discovered, click on the selection.



d. If you are presented with a printer pairing code, confirm this code. Click both the checkmark on the printer, and confirm on your phone as well at the same time.

If you experience difficulties connecting to the printer, put the printer into Limited Pairing Mode by holding the Printer Feed button on the printer until the LED starts flashing.

3. Adjust connectivity settings

Once connected, select Connectivity Settings. After the settings have been retrieved, enter the information in the corresponding screenshots below. You can change the Friendly Name to your preference as it will be used to identify the printer going forward. 

                              




4. Adjust media dimensions

Once connected, select Media Settings then Media Settings once more. After the settings have been retrieved, enter the information in the corresponding fields below:
    1. Width: 2.84" 
    2. Length: 7.5" 
    3. Orientation: Normal

5. Adjust media type

Hit next, then under the additional details make sure the following details are set up in this way: 
    1. Media Type: Black Mark 
    2. Type of Transfer: Direct Thermal
    3. Media Handling: Tear Off or Peel Off 
Hit Next, then Apply Settings (Do not select save settings to file).

6. Select device language

Back on the main page, select Device Language then Set Device Language
    1. Under Emulation, select None
    2. Under Command Language, select XML and ZPL
    3. Apply Settings

7. Restart Printer

Back on the main page, select Printer Actions and then Restart Printer to restart the printer.


8. Connecting to Roker Patrol

Run through enforcement as you normally would. At the last stage of issuing a violation, you may be asked to connect to the printer for the first time. 
  1. If the printer doesn't show, ensure it's turned on with adequate battery
  2. Hit "Retry" if no printers are found 
  3. Once the printer is found, you may be asked to verify the code. Click the yellow checkmark on the printer, and confirm the code is correct in the app as well

The code must be accepted on the Zebra printer by pressing the yellow arrow when pairing the printer to Roker Patrol for the first time, and confirmed on your mobile device at the same time
