Be sure to set up automatic updates so that the app is always running the latest version: running old versions of the app can cause problems.
3. In the app, select a location.
If you will be enforcing underground or somewhere with poor connection, you can go to Settings -> Offline Mode before you go underground to put the app into Offline mode. You must have selected a location and loaded all active sessions under that location first for this to work.
Note that the scanner will be more accurate if you scan from the top of the license plate down, rather from side-to-side. As it scans quite quickly, scanning from side-to-side may have LPR read only read the plate partially.
If applicable, you can adjust the license plate box (the one with the white corners in the image above) with your fingers to a desired size. When scanning, this box is what will be used to read the plates, so you will need to ensure the entire license plate is in the box.
In the search bar at the top, enter in the license plate number. There may be 2 scenarios:
If you're prompted to submit a digital chalking, go ahead and do so. There are two outcomes; if the plate has not been previously chalking within the reset time, you'll be left on the location results screen and can continue to enforce. If you are taken to the License Plate Details screen and there is no data for that location under the Permit Parking or Active Parking Sessions boxes, this plate was previously chalked, is still within the reset time and can be issued a violation.
Confidence percentage is how the LPR scanner determines the probability of a plate being read correctly. Currently, we've set the Confidence at 85% which has been tested to work well for most instances, but if you notice that the scanner reads plates incorrectly quite often - without asking you to verify - then you can adjust to a lower percentage.
The higher the percentage, the less often you'll be asked to verify plates. If you set the percentage to 95% for instance, LPR will be certain that 95% of the plates are being read correctly.
